video trailer

It's one of the most dangerous journeys you can make. Most spacers end up as asteroid dust or in an Imperial Gulag. But for those with the right skills, and just enough crazy, glory awaits! Strap in Captain and try your luck at making the KESSEL RUN!

Notes on the game: This game will play in the browser(at least for me), but it stutters at times and can chug when loading new content in. I HIGHLY recommend you play the downloadable windows exe for the best experience.

Other browser version problems-

-- Godot has a bug in html with controller triggers, so, play with mouse and keyboard(or download the .exe)

-- Leaderboards are not playing nice with backend on the browser version

Windows version:

Like all Godot exes(this is unsigned code), you will get a Microsoft Defender warning, because I'm not paying to sign my code for a free game, just click run anyway. I highly recommend you play this with a controller. The game has been designed around the twin-stick controls of a modern gamepad. You can play also play it with mouse and keyboard if that's all you've got. Game should default to gamepad if it detects one, but you can manually set control type in the options menu( unclick the "enable controller" button to use mouse and keyboard). If you have Steam open it will probably use your steam controller mappings and may be different then the labeled controls.

The art was pretty much all made with Stable Diffusion AI (with the exceptions of the asteroids), which I also ended up learning after I started making this. I know AI art is not everyone's jam, but for someone like me who is not an artist, it is a pretty amazing tool.

If you find any bugs or have other feedback, feel free to post in the comments.

Background if you care :)

This game began as a project to put a mini game video mode into a virtual pinball machine table I was working on.  In order to do that, I had to learn Godot. I am not a trained programmer but have dabbled in programming from time to time over the years. I ended up having so much fun making the video mode for the pinball game, that I decided to spend a little more time and make it into a full "mini" game.  About a month and a half later, I present to you the fruits of that labor. It's been fun, and lots of googling, but I'm proud of the game as it stands today. I may end up coming back later and adding more content, but for now, I've got more new game ideas in my head that need working on. I also intend on releasing the Godot source code at some point in the future for anyone who may be in the beginning learning phase and wants to use it. Thanks to anyone who ends up playing, hope you enjoy.
